The Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s Fall/Winter “Paths to Progress” newsletter profiles the efforts of Dr. Chuck Stiles and Dr. Mark Kieran in their efforts to take cutting edge scientific research from the lab into the clinics. Highlighting the difficulties in studying PLGA due to the scarcity of viable tissue samples (Approximately 1000 children per year are diagnosed with this disease. however, samples of these tumors are rarely harvested for research purposes.), Dr. Kieran and Stiles are developing technologies that will enhance the study of tumors and also bring significant numbers of tissue samples into the PLGA Research Program.
